Baebody 101: Basics for beginners

You’re a regular Eye Gel user. Maybe you’re a Vit C Moisturizer feen. Or maybe you just signed up for our email list and don’t know where to start. Regardless of where you are in your baebody journey, we’re going to touch on the ba(e)sics. Head-to-toe body, skin and hair care is constantly changing, and we’re here to admit that we’re always learning something new through our extensive research.

Each person has different self-care and wellness concerns – dry skin, oil control and blemishes, dark circles, dandruff, damaged hair and more – that are unique to him, her or them personally. We’ve carefully designed products fit for each concern by identifying hero ingredients that distinctly address hair, skin, body and within health. Let’s dive into the basics, shall we?

Shopping by range

Skin-firming: Collagen

Collagen is the most abundant protein in the human body. It provides strength and cushioning for bones, skin, muscles, tendons and ligaments. It is responsible for skin strength and elasticity and what keeps our skin from sagging. The older we get, the less collagen we produce. This is where we come in. Our multi-tasking, collagen-stimulating range of products promotes youthful skin by providing important hydration while fighting the signs of aging by reducing fine lines and wrinkles. Made to build skin strength for all skin types, our collagen products help skin look plumper and feel firmer. Whether you are looking for topical collagen to fight signs of aging or ingestible collagen for healthy hair, skin nails & joints, there are multiple ways to incorporate collagen into your routine.  Available via moisturizer, gummies or our NEW vanilla hibiscus tea.

 Energizing: Vitamin C

Vitamin C has such great benefits for your skin that using topical products and serums is the most direct way to reap all the perks this vitamin provides. Great for all skin types, it helps skin better retain moisture and smooths the skin’s surface to reduce dullness for bright, glowing skin. It also helps reduce redness and boosts collagen production by reversing inflammation that causes damage to the collagen in our skin. We’ve previously told you about the skin-firming benefits of topically applying collagen; vitamin C and collagen naturally work together and are a powerful skin care duo for tighter, brighter looking skin. Baebody’s energizing Vit C range is great for all skin types and is available in the forms of our moisturizer and serum.

Purifying: Tea Tree

Used as traditional medicine for centuries, tea tree oil has strong anti-bacterial properties. Helping reduce inflammation and boosting the production of white blood cells – which are instrumental in the healing process – tea tree oil is great for treating acne and has been coined “the pore purifier.” Some of you might be using an anti-acne medication containing benzoyl peroxide; tea tree oil has been found to be as effective against acne as benzoyl peroxide. Best for acne-prone and oily skin types, our Tea Tree Serum reduces inflammation and lifts dirt from clogged pores for happy and clearer looking skin.

Apart from skin care, tea tree oil also helps control dandruff and scalp itchiness. A lot hair products today contain severe chemicals that strip hair of much-needed nutrients. Using tea tree oil-based hair products will help prevent buildup of chemicals and dead skin. The healing and calming properties of tea tree oil restores your hair’s natural luster, and our shampoo is great for those with sensitive and itchy scalps.

Moisturizing: Argan Oil

Argan oil is rich in omega-6 essential fatty acids and vitamin E. Protecting skin from sun damage, argan oil contains a large number of healing and hydrating properties for skin – largely thanks to its abundance of vitamin E, which is a fat-soluble antioxidant that can help improve water retention in the skin. Best for acne-prone and dry skin, argan oil has anti-sebum effects that can effectively regulate amounts of sebum (aka oil) on the skin to further promote a smoother, calmer complexion for hydrated skin. Our natural skin and hair oil is a multi-purpose carrier oil and is safe to use on skin or hair.

Argan oil is also great for moisturizing your hair and scalp and protecting hair from everyday damage. For thicker, fuller hair, our shampoo and conditioner reduces breakage and split ends. Deeply nourishing, this duo strengthens and restores elasticity for luscious, frizz-free locks.

Youth-preserving: Retinol

Retinol is a form of vitamin A and is known to reduce signs of aging by improving appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It can be used to combat acne by increasing cell turnover and decreasing the production of oil. When applied topically, retinol helps bring skin back to a more youthful state by increasing collagen production and preventing the breakdown of collagen that already exists. It helps promote healthier-looking skin by naturally turning around concerns like dullness and rough texture. Most retinol is not for all skin types; it can be particularly tricky on sensitive skin. We set out to create a sensitive yet effective retinol suitable for all skin types.. Gentle enough for daily use and perfect for retinol beginners, our moisturizer and serum are lightweight and absorb quickly into skin for firmer, smoother looking skin. We recommend doing a patch test before trying out retinol products.

Powerful blends

Our powerhouse blends combine various effective ingredients to help fight a multitude of combination-skin concerns. Ranging from products for anti-aging, sun damage, fine lines & wrinkles, hydration, firmness and more, we’ll touch on a few of our products that contain these powerful blends.

  • Hyaluronic Acid Serum. Hyaluronic acid is a sugar found naturally in our skin that holds water and helps keep it hydrated and plump throughout the day. Its main function is to retain water to keep skin well lubricated, so it is great for those with dry skin. Fun fact: hyaluronic acid can hold up to 1000x it’s weight in water! Hyaluronic acid decreases in our body as we get older, so it needs to be replaced.
  • Jojoba Oil. The vitamin E and B-complex vitamins in jojoba oil help in skin repair and damage control. With anti-inflammatory properties, this oil is known to help improve blemishes, fine lines, soothe redness caused by drying, moisturize dry skin and keep skin calm and comfortable. Great for acne-prone, dry and oily skin, jojoba oil does a great job of resetting your complexion by bringing back balance.

  • Eye Gel. With a powerful blend of vitamin E, Matrixyl 3000 and peptide complex, our best-selling Eye Gel helps reduce the appearance of puffiness, dark circles, under eye bags and wrinkles. Lightweight and dermatologist tested, this hypoallergenic product is great for all skin types.
  • Biotin Gummies. Biotin boosts the health of hair, nails and skin. These gummy vitamins are packed with biotin and each bottle comes with 60 strawberry flavored gummies. Take two daily and soon you'll be bae with the good hair.
